Can I make a booking for just the Sovereign Hill Hotel?

Please note that all guests aged over 12 years and 2 months must be fully COVID-19  vaccinated to stay at the Sovereign Hill Hotel. You don’t have to be visiting the Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum in order to stay with us.
Is the Gold Museum open?

What activities are on offer?
An exciting program of summer demonstrations and activities will be available and included in your admission ticket. Visitors are encouraged to review the safety protocols and can check our program before visiting.
What is different due to COVID-19?
While we navigate and carefully adhere to COVID-safe restrictions, some things might look a little different. To ensure Sovereign Hill is safe and secure, sanitisation stations are active throughout the site. All visitors are required to carry and wear masks in line with Victorian Government guidelines. We are now a fully vaccinated site  - staff, volunteers and visitors aged 12 years & 2 months and over must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated to enter.
How do I buy an annual pass?
Annual Passes can be purchased at the front entrance on days we are open or via [email protected]
Why can’t I pre-book premium activities online?
Additional premium activities including costumed photography, mine tours, candle-dipping and coach rides are subject to limited availability. Therefore, they need to be booked and paid for at the relevant location on the day. This helps to ensure availability and allows our staff to provide visitors with appropriate information around timing, safety and other important details for your experience.
What additional activities do I need to pay for?
Your Sovereign Hill admission includes all classic experiences such as panning for gold, theatre performances, street shows, live demonstrations, exploring our shops and cottages, bowling, self-guided tours of the Red Hill Mine, the Gold Pour and additional special seasonal activities. Additional premium activities can be purchased during your visit. These include costumed photography, mine tours, candle-dipping and coach rides which are subject to limited availability and should be booked and paid for at the relevant location on the day. Pre-booking these experiences online is not available at the moment.
How do I make a booking using a valid Companion Card?
  1. Please purchase the number of tickets you are paying for online via our website.
  2. Once you finalise the booking, you will receive a confirmation email with your booking confirmation included. Please forward this email to the Sovereign Hill Bookings Team ([email protected]) with the number of companion card tickets you require. Your updated booking confirmation will then be sent back to you with the Companion Card tickets now included free of charge.
  3. Please present this updated booking confirmation, either digitally on your phone or printed out, to the staff on arrival. You will need to bring the valid Companion Card with you upon your arrival.
Can I book at ticket with a Companion Card?
Companion Card holders can attend Sovereign Hill at a concession rate. One adult guest can accompany the card holder free of charge. Please see below how to arrange your adult guests free ticket. *Australian cards only. Cards must be presented. One free adult guest per Companion Card.
Does my ticket still provide two days of entry?
Sovereign Hill admission is now a one-day ticket only with a reduced price of $39 per adult ticket, $20 for children's tickets and $99 for a family of four, five or six. If you intend to visit multiple times, we recommend purchasing an Annual Pass for best value.
Do I have to pre-book activities?
Additional premium activities such as costumed photography, candle-dipping and coach rides are available subject to limited availability and should be booked at the relevant location on the day of your visit. Pre-booking these experiences online is not available.
Do Annual Pass holders need to book?
Annual Pass holders can attend Sovereign Hill at any time. Like all guests and staff, Annual Pass holders must book online so that we can manage capacity.
Is AURA running?
AURA is currently open to the public on Saturday evenings and will open for additional dates over the school holidays. Regular updates will be provided through Sovereign Hill's website and social media channels.
Do I have to book? How do I book?
Due to strict capacity limits, all visitors must book their tickets online before visiting.
What are your opening hours?
Sovereign Hill is open to the general public Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Online pre-booking is required. School programs are still able to be booked on Mondays. Please contact our schools booking team for more information.
Is Sovereign Hill safe to visit?
Our priority is to ensure our staff, friends, families and visitors are safe and secure. Sovereign Hill is an outdoor living museum, so we have lots of space to ensure we are practising the very best hygiene through physical distancing and sanitisation. Our COVID Safe Plan has been developed by in line with all Federal and State Government regulations, and has been designed to protect all staff and visitors from the potential exposure to COVID-19. Do you offer cancellations?
Admission ticket purchases are non-refundable. In the event that you cannot attend on the booked date and advise us at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival, a change of date may be offered subject to the discretion of Sovereign Hill. No more than one date change will be processed per booking. Date changes must be within six months of the initial booking. No-shows (failure to attend on the day without prior contact) will result in forfeiture of the booking. Tickets cannot be exchanged for credit or cash, transferred into another name or sold to another party. Requests for cancellation should be made in writing via [email protected] If the museum is unable to open due to conditions restricting our ability to operate, then a full refund will be processed.
What if I have been asked to isolate or tested positive for COVID-19?
We will happily reschedule your visit to a future date of your choosing provided you provide written notice prior to your scheduled visit date. Please contact [email protected]
What are the main safety protocols you have in place?
  • Facemasks All visitors are required to carry and wear masks in line with Victorian Government guidelines.
  • Online bookings All Annual Pass holders and visitors must pre-book a ticket online.
  • Hygiene and sanitisation Sanitisation and disinfecting services are available across Sovereign Hill.
  • Physical distancing A physical distance of 1.5m will be enforced throughout the site. This extends to what you can do with photography and seating, and how you experience the many activities Sovereign Hill has to offer.
  • Communication and signage We will provide advance material to visitors at the time of booking to ensure our new hygiene and safety protocols are understood. We also have clear signage throughout the site to guide visitors to adhere to our protocols.
  • Staff and volunteers Our staff and volunteers will undertake training to ensure we are complying with and practising the best standards and quality of hygiene and safety.
  • QR check-in QR check-in is in place in compliance with Victorian Government guidelines to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Checking in is a condition of entry. If you do not have a compatible device, our staff are available to assist.
Do I need a COVID-19 test pre-arrival?
COVID-19 pre-testing is not a requirement of entry to Sovereign Hill. Sovereign Hill is operating in line with all government guidelines relating to COVID-19. These guidelines can be viewed here.
Is parking available on site?
Yes! And it’s free! Head to our main visitor carpark on Bradshaw Street. Limited disabled parking is available.
